With temperatures rising throughout the week the Scurry County Museum will be subject to closing early throughout the week. The Western Texas College is working on replacing and updating their systems and the air conditioning is currently being worked on. With the temps rising in the afternoons the Scurry County Museum gets quite warm. We strongly urge people to call the Museum at 325.573.6107 before heading here, especially in the afternoons to make sure we are open. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause anyone. We are still booking Paleo Dig Tours and Summer Camp spots. We will return any phone messages as soon as possible, usually the next morning.
We had a great turnout for the first Paleo dig tour. There are three more dates left: June 18, 25, and July 2nd. Tours meet at the Scurry County Museum at 9:30 am and depart via caravan for the site at 10:00 am. Only 30 spots are available per tour due to space restrictions. Please make sure to call the Museum at 325.573.6107 to reserve your spot now. The tours are outdoors and subject to cancellation due to weather. We strongly urge people to please dress appropriately including bringing a water bottle, good walking shoes, a hat, and sunscreen. On site there will be additional drinks including lemonade, tea, and water for a donation.
