[ARCHIVED] Area Agencies holding Back to School Bash

A new school year is approaching and local agencies are teaming up to host a back-to-school bash Thursday.
The West Texas Children’s Advocacy Center, High Sky Children’s Ranch, Gateway Family Services and Scurry
Community Services will sponsor the event which will be held in the gazebo area on the square. The bash is from 6-8 p.m.
Organizers have designed the event to promote safety, fun and excitement as students prepare for another school year, said Javier Franco of the children’s ranch. In addition to the sponsors, city and county organizations
can set up booths to help educate people about the programs offered.
This year, the Scurry County Child Welfare Board has donated backpacks that will be given away as door prizes.
The backpacks will be filled with basic school supplies and other door prizes will be given away.
To open the bash, CheerStars will perform at 6 p.m. and an air castle will be available. A limbo contest and music also will be part of the entertainment.
Organizations or businesses which would like to have a booth can call Chrystal Jaimes at 573-3997 or Nancy Romero at 573-2800.
