[ARCHIVED] 2014 Parade Staging and Procedures

In recent years, Snyder's July 4th Parade has grown considerably, to the point that there is insufficient room on the Moffett Field parking lot to line up the parade vehicles and floats. In an effort to remedy that problem, we are trying something new this year, that will be a slight inconvenience for some, but should allow for a safe area for our children to stage for the parade, and allow room to line up the vehicles in an orderly fashion. From 7:00am, until the parade is over, Houston street will be closed to through traffic. The north end will be barricaded off, just south of the intersection of 40th street. The south end will be barricaded off just north of the road that runs between the little league fields and Moffett Field. So that road will remain open for park access, and 40th & 42nd streets will remain open as well.

On the north end of the stating area, ONLY pedestrian drop-off will be permitted. There will be absolutely NO parking, as this causes a bottle neck of vehicles, and there is no place for additional vehicles. On the south end, persons with go-carts, motorcycles, and other parade vehicles that need to be unloaded from trailers will be permitted to do so in the Moffett Field SOUTH parking lot, on the SW corner of Moffett Field. If that area fills up, overflow will be south of the Farm League field on Houston Avenue, along the west side of the street.

Only VEHICLES THAT WILL BE DRIVING IN THE PARADE will be permitted into the staging area, and ALL vehicles MUST enter from the SOUTH, on Houston Avenue ONLY. Parade vehicles approaching from the north on Houston will be routed down Irving Avenue, and can then enter the stating area from the South.

See the attached map for anyone needing more information. The cooperation of everyone is solicited, for safety and efficiency. We appreciate the help of all.
