[ARCHIVED] Notice of Public Hearing on Tax Increase

City Council voted on August 5, 2013 to adopt the proposed tax rate by the following vote: Bill Harris, Aye; Stephanie Ducheneaux, Aye; Abel De Loera, Aye; Frank Toland, Aye; Vernon Clay, No; Steve Highfield, Absent.

Last year, the City of Snyder property tax rate was $.4445. That rate raised $1,623,939, a portion of which was used to fund operations such as:

Administration, Finance, Planning & Zoning, Municipal Court, Community Service, Police, Animal Control, Fire and Streets.

This year, Snyder City Council is proposing a property tax rate of $.44445. That rate would raise $1,712,124, which is $86,665 more in taxes imposed last year for maintenance and operations. The tax rate will effectively be raised by an 5.33% increase over the effective tax rate and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $0.00.

There will be two public hearings to consider that increase. The first public hearing will be held on August 12, 2013, 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. The second hearing will be held on August 19, 2013, 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
